Senior Team Trip Conclusion
Our final record for the trip: 3-2 with a 5th place finish. The boys finished strong with a 55-46 victory over BIT on Saturday. Obviously, though, we are very disappointed with the outcome of the tournament. With 7 Seniors on the team we were hoping to be in that Championship match a second year in a row. Friday was just a bad day for us. Were there referee calls that went against us? Definitely. But we also played ourselves into a position where those calls would matter. The fouls in our one point loss were 21 against us and 9 called against the other team. But in that same game we were 3-10 from the free throw line. We will not win many games shooting 30% from the line. The seniors have had a great run and great careers. They won the Mother Delores title two years ago, which no team from WCA had ever done before. Hopefully they will get some more games in Chittagong because they deserve the opportunity to play again and play better. I am proud of the guys and how much they have improved from what they were as freshmen.
As a school we now look ahead to our Varsity (through class 10) guys' tournament in early December here in Chittagong, followed by our girls heading to Dhaka in the middle of February. Remember that sports is not the end all. It is a vehicle to teach us principles to make us more ready for real life in the future. May we all learn the lessons that matter most in life, even through athletics.
